The African International Boxing Association (AIBA) has banned Uganda pugilist Solomon Bogere of Lukanga boxing club for violating international professional boxing rules and regulations. A letter signed by the AIBA general secretary, Hon Kim Lee, states that while in Rwanda last year, Bogere registered and physically played as a professional boxer, in contravention of the AIBA rules. The Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) general secretary, Sande Musoke, has confirmed the ban. He however says that this is a tricky situation for Musoke, because he physically played in Rwanda as a professional. Bogere who appeared for his local club Lukanga at the national open championships admitted his vice, but said that he is ready to defend his action.
