Police in Kampala have arrested two people in connection with the misuse of money from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Dan Kalule, Personal Assistant to the State Minister for Primary Health and Robert Ssemwogerere, an Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Health are being held at the Central Police Station. Police says the arrest of the two men was recommended by Justice James Ogoola, the chairperson of the commission of inquiry probing the mismanagement of the Global Fund. Both Kalule and Ssemwogerere are being investigated for fraud. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is handling their case. Police declines to give further details of the case.
