Special Police Constables in Lira district have threatened to go on a sit down strike to protest delayed payment of their salaries. The constables were disappointed today when they were paid 67,000 shillings as salary for the month of October instead of the entire five month salary arrears they had expected. Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the angry constables complained that it has become difficult for him to provide the basic needs for his family. He said that he will not hesitate to abandon his work if delays in salary payments persist. //Cue in: iThe other time # Cue out: # my people are suffering.i// During a recent visit to the district, the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kaihura, assured the constables that their salary arrears would be paid this month.
