Six football teams in Kabale have received licenses to participate in the 2007 First Division League. Latif Khalid, chairperson of the Kabale District Football Federation, says he expects the high level of competition among the Kabale teams this year because of the intense lobbying for players that has taken place. Khalid says a record 80 players participated in the team transfers this year. Most of the transfers attracted less than the minimum of 100,000 shillings set by FUFA. The Kabale teams participating in this year's First Division League that kicks off in February are Gorilla, Kabale United, Kigongi, Maziba, Garage and Muyebe Football clubs. FUFA organizes the First Division League at district level countrywide to encourage the growth of grassroots team that have a change to advance to the national super league.
