The Inspectorate General of Government (IGG), has ordered the Kaberamaido District Service Commission to halt the recruitment of the District Education Officer (DEO). The recruitment exercise has been halted on grounds that the District Service Commission, chaired by Bernard Emalu, did not follow standard recruitment procedures. Robert Engulu, the district chairman, explains that the IGG's decision stems from a threat by Moses Ochung, one of the candidates short listed for the job, to drag the district to court. Ochung claims that he was denied the job offer following interference from an official from the education ministry. Joseph Emusu, the district speaker, says the recruitment of the district Education officer was fraught with irregularities that ranged from bias to sectarianism.
