Street connected children in Kampala have reported mistreatment by city authorities and Uganda Police Force.

The children were speaking during celebrations to commemorate the International Day for Street Children held at Pan African Square, Clock Tower in Kampala on Thursday.

The event brought together more than 700 street children living in Katwe and Kisenyi suburbs. It was characterised with processions in both slums and dinning with NGO officials as well as receiving medical checkups from health workers.

Several children Uganda Radio Network spoke to expressed concern over what they called police harassment. They want government to help them to get back to school.
