The Member of Parliament for Aruu County in Pader, Odonga Otto, is being investigated by police for beating the headmaster of Gulu Central Secondary School senseless. Simon Peter Wafana, the Pader District Police Commander, says the attack took place at 9:40 p.m. on Christmas Eve. He says initial investigations indicate that Odonga Otto was angry that his uncle assaulted him at his Mbea Safari Apartments in Pader Town Council. Officer Wafana says Otto seriously beat up his uncle John Otema, rendering him unconscious for a few minutes. Speaking shortly after his recovery, Otema said he received a call from the MP asking him to go to Mbea Safari Apartments. He claimed that on arrival Odonga Otto pounced on him and started beating him up for no reason. Otto says his uncle is a liar. He says Otema, not him, initiated the attack. Otto suspects that one of his friends, who was at the scene at the time, may have stepped in to defend him and beat up Otema. It is not clear what the disagreement between the parliamentarian and his uncle involved. The District Police Commander advises the duo to settle the matter out of court.
