The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, has castigated the hanging of Former Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, on Eid-al-Adha day. Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging on Saturday morning at a secure facility in northern Baghdad, for crimes against humanity. During Eid-al-Adha Prayers at Old Kampala Secondary school, Mubaje said that although he was not opposed to the execution, the timing of the execution to coincide with Eid al-Adha was too grave. Mubaje argued that Sadam's execution on Eid al-adha is highly symbolic. Eid al-adha marks the sacrifice the prophet Abraham was prepared to make when God ordered him to kill his son. He says Saddam has been offered as a sacrificial lamb, just like Ibrahim sacrificed his only son Ishmael to God. In a letter to his Nation written before his execution, Saddam stated that he had offered his soul to God as a sacrifice and that if God wants, he will send his soul to heaven with the martyrs.
