Chatha Investments accuses Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze of failing to clear payment for two cars she bought in 2011 and 2012.

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament, Betty Bakireke Nambooze has been sued for failing to pay 14.4 million shillings she allegedly owes the company.

Chatha Investments, a company dealing in cars has dragged Nambooze to Nakawa Court, seeking to recover the said money.

The company says Nambooze bought two cars in 2011 and 2012, but she has since then failed to honor the sale agreement.

The cars she allegedly bought from the car selling company include a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Daihatsu-Storia.

Court documents show that the vocal MP first bought the Daihatsu-Storia car in May, 2011 at 12 million shillings.

However, the terms of payment required that she makes a cash deposit of four million shillings and that the balance of eight million was to be paid within a period of six months.

The company also says Nambooze bought another car the following year, a Toyota Land Cruiser at 50 million shillings.

The payment terms for this car required that she deposits a cash payment of 13 million shillings and the balance be paid within six months.

The MP allegedly paid the purchase price and was left with an outstanding balance of 6.4 million shillings that she owes the car company to date.

The car company alleges that Nambooze has since failed or refused to pay a total outstanding balance of 14.4 million from the two cars.

Court has summoned the MP to file her defense against the allegations within 15 days from the date of receipt of the summons.
