Kasaija James Wamaani, a resident of Masindi has petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG) protesting against the irregularities in Masindi Local Government staff recruitment. In his petition, Wamaani claims that the recent recruitment of Sub county chiefs was fraught with several irregularities. He is particularly angry at the way the district service commission handled the recruitment of sub-county chiefs. The Masindi district service commission is currently conducting interviews to fill more than 25 vacant positions. But Wamaani says that the district service commission has been influenced by the District executive headed by Steven Birja, the district chairman, to determine who should be short listed for the job. He explains that most of the people short listed for the interviews are either relatives of members on the district executive, or their supporters. But Birija told the district council today that he is ready to be investigated and the petitioner must substantiate his allegations. //Cue in: iI tried to suppress# Cue out#were removedi// In another development, the Masindi district executive has launched an investigation into reports that the district contracts committee has awarded tenders to companies that have been on the blacklist for doing shoddy work. Addressing the Masindi district council, Mugisha Muhwezi, the Resident District Commissioner, said he is allergic to corruption and will not hesitate to take stern action on corrupt officers. //Cue in: iCorruption is#..
