The Masaka Municipality Engineer, Hatim Mugenyi, has been interdicted for incompetence. A letter from the Town Clerk of Masaka, Edward Kiwanuka Gwavu, copied to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, says Mugenyi has caused the failure of many projects because of his incompetence. It cites the failure of the engineer to supervise the tarmacking of the two-kilometer Bwala Road in Masaka Municipality despite the availability of funds for the project. The letter also draws attention to the shoddy construction of Kasana Playground in Nyendo where Mugenyi was supposed to complete the construction of a 60-million shilling perimeter fence. Mugenyi is also accused of doing unsatisfactory work on a 94-million shilling streetlight project. According to the Town Clerk's letter Mugenyi was given enough time for redress, but he failed to correct his mistakes. The Town Clerk says Mugenyi's interdiction will hold until investigations into his conduct are complete.
