A 20 year old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in a jealous fit.
 
Geoffrey Owina (20) attacked and killed his wife Lucy Ajwang (19) after repeatedly accusing her of having extramarital affairs.
 
The incident took place on Monday morning, a few minutes past midnight, at Atala village, Angeta parish Omoro Sub County in Alebtong district.
 
Tonny Ondoga, Alebtong District Police commander says Owina, had reportedly accused his wife of infidelity several times.
 
Ondoga says that Owina has been arrested and is helping police with investigations.
 
Ajwang's death is the third case of fatal domestic squabbles in Lango region in just five days.
 
On January 16th, Patrick Enon (31), a resident of Owangodyang Cell, Akalo Sub County in Kole district, fought and beat his wife Susan Adongo (29) to death.
 
Central North Police spokesperson Mansur Suwed reveals that Enon then poisoned himself and died the following day.

Inspector Joe Otim, Officer in-charge of Child and Family Protection Unit at Lira Central Police Station, says domestic violence is on the rise. He attributes the rise to alcohol abuse especially by men and extra-marital affairs. 
 
Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behaviour in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Abuse is physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person.
