Erias Lukwago, the lord mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority -KCCA is questioning the expenditure on fixing potholes, street lighting and drainage amongst other areas. He announced this today while addressing a press conference at city hall. Lukwago told journalists that KCCA was allocated shillings 45 billion this financial year for road works but there is little to show for the money.

With a stern look, Lukwago disowned the budget break down of the 45billion shilling in which 17billion shillings was earmarked for reconstruction and rehabilitation, 3.3 billion shillings for design and supervision and 4.5billion for the reconstruction of Fairway junction. Lukwago alleged that KCCA money is being squandered warning that the honey moon is over and he is ready to assert his authority as lord mayor.

He questioned the allocation of shillings 1.2billion shillings to refurbish street lights and another 5 billion shillings to upgrade the existing solar street lighting system saying it does not make sense. He said Jennifer Musisi, KCCA executive director will have to account for the money to the authority in the New Year.
