Residents of Abako parish in Lira district, have beaten and killed a suspect who was released on police bond. Adar was arrested and detained at Lira Central Police Station for theft. He was however released yesterday on police bond, but killed shortly after he returned to his village. Armed with sticks and stones, the angry residents pounced on Adar and beat him to unconsciousness. They accused police of abetting crime by granting bond to hard core criminals. The district criminal investigations officer, Fred Enganga, confirmed the incident. He says police is concerned at the rate at which people are resorting to Mob Justice. Enganga says about 100 suspects have been beaten to death over the last three months.
