Iganga FC Beats Victor 2-1

Iganga FC beat Victors FC by two goals to one in yesterday's eastern Super League derby at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja. The hero of the day was Iganga's Robert Nakyenalire who scored the first goal in the first half of the game. He followed through with a second goal for his team two minutes into the second half. Victor FC was not walk-over, however. Its defenders put up a spirited fight to prevent any other goals and five minutes before the end of the first half, striker Arthur Semanzi pulled back a goal to salvage his club's pride on home ground. Victor FC coach, George Best Nsimbe, says that despite the defeat, he was happy with the outcome of the match. He says there are several lessons to be learned about the coordination of the players and he hopes for a better result in Victor's next game against Arua Centraal Iganga FC's win means that it now has 11 points in games played in the first half of the Super League. It is placed 12th on the league table. The team captain, Madilu Kasila, is excited that Iganga FC ended the year with a win. He says the team played well together despite the early withdrawal of Gerald Bagoole, who was benched because of a thigh injury. However it wasn't all sun and roses on the Iganga side. The team's player, Herbert Kakande was sent off the pitch after receiving two yellow cards. Iganga FC's next game is against KCC FC in Kampala.
