It has been confirmed that the examination results of 80 Makerere University students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce External program have disappeared. A committee instituted to investigate the missing results of 250 students of the BCom External program, has found that the results of 80 students cannot be traced. It is not clear what exactly led to the missing results, but it is suspected that they were lost when the BCom External program was transferred from the Makerere University Business School to the Makerere University Commerce Faculty two years ago. The committee, which last week handed over its report to the Minister of Education, Geraldine Bitamazire, found that an extra 120 students, slated for graduation this year, will not graduate because they failed their examinations and have to redo several course units. Six others did not have proper identification and their enrollment in Makerere could not be certified. Of the 250 students investigated, only 65 have been approved for this week's graduation ceremonies. The Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, James Akampumuza, who headed the taskforce, said they have asked the minister to extend their mandate to further investigate the missing results.
