EC set Nomination Dates for Bukomansimbi Woman MP

The Democratic Party early this week agreed to front Veronica Nanyondo to replace her sister as the party flag bearer.

The Electoral Commission has set January 5 and 6, 2016 for fresh nominations for the Bukomansimbi Women parliamentary seat.
 
The seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent Susan Namaganda in a car accident this month.
 
A statement issued by the Engineer Badru Kiggundu today, says nominations will be held at the district Electoral Commission offices on the designated days.
 
 
Kiggundu says candidates who had already been nominated for the position will not be required to go through fresh nominations.
 
 
Any person who meets the required qualifications to contest for the position can also present him or herself for nomination.

She will face off with Independents Immaculate Nabawanuka, Janat Kayondo and NRM's Halima Nakawungu.
 
 
Nominations will also be held on the same dates for sub county chairperson, Muko Sub County in Kabale district; sub county councilor Mugulu parish in Mityana district, councilor representing older persons in Butandiga sub county, Sironko district and woman councilor, Namayiba and Kyabango parishes in Mukono district.

The Electoral Commission has appointed Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th January, 2016 as dates for nomination of candidates for Parliamentary and Local Government Councils in the following electoral areas where death occurred of nominated candidates:

1.    A candidate who is already nominated to contest for the above elective positions, will not be required to go through fresh nomination;
 
2.During the nomination exercise, a political party/organization which had sponsored the deceased candidate will be able to sponsor another candidate for nomination;
 
3. Any other person who is interested, and qualifies to contest for any of the above elective positions, with the sponsorship of a political party/organization or on independent ticket, will also be able to present herself or himself for nomination during the above exercise;
 
4.NNomination forms and related guidelines on the nominations can be obtained from the office of the respective District Returning Officer.
