Death of University Student Prompts Police Investigation

The death of Tito Asiimwe, a second year student of medicine at Kampala International University –Ishaka campus, has raised suspicion, prompting a police investigation.
 
The student died after allegedly drowning in Kazinga channel, three days ago.
 
The criminal investigations officer, Katunguru Police Post, Kenneth Nsubuga says the body was found floating on the water.
 
A postmortem report from Ishaaka Teaching Hospital shows that the body had some bruises on the forehead and the back, indicating the he was either hit or injured before being immersed in water.  
 
Bishop Enoch Kayeye, a father of the deceased boy, says his son last communicated to the family via an SMS, announcing his New Years resolution to put everything right before God and to concentrate on his medical course.
 
Addressing mourners at the All Saint Church in Kabale, Bishop Kayeye praised his son as an academic giant and hard working boy. He had obtained another degree in Bachelors of Science in Community Forest from Makerere University.
  
The student will be buried today as police investigations get underway.
