The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou will grace the 2012 Cecafa Tusker Senior Challenge Cup which takes place in Uganda November 24 to December 8.
 
FUFA’s spokesman Rogers Mulindwa made the announcement this Sunday afternoon that the CAF President had accepted to visit Uganda on a special invitation extended to him by the FA President Lawrence Mulindwa.
 
Mulindwa said that Hayatou is expected in Uganda on November 22. Mulindwa revealed that Hayatou will be in company of several CAF officials who will include the General Secretary Hicham El Amrani, Mohamed Raouraoua, Constant Omari and Ngangue Appolinaire.  Mulindwa said that the CAF delegation will also meet the FUFA Executive.
 
According to Mulindwa, Hayatou’s visit is partly in recognition of FUFA’s continued efforts that have seen Uganda’s football steadily improve. Uganda is currently ranked 86th in the World’s FIFA rankings away from the 117th position in 2005.
 
The CAF President is also expected to attend the CECAFA Congress at Serena Hotel on November 23 before presiding over the official opening of the 2012 Cecafa-Tusker Cup at Namboole stadium the following evening.
 
Ethiopia who qualified for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations will open against new comers South Sudan in the first match on November 24, before hosts and defending champions Uganda take on arch rivals Kenya in the second game of the day.The other teams taking part in the event include; Sudan, Tanzania, Burundi, Somalia, Rwanda, Zanzibar, Eritrea and guest side Malawi.
