Bwera General Hospital in Kasese district lacks an isolation facility.

Buthala says they have been having a temporary shelter constructed by the community, but it can no longer serve the purpose.

Buthalha says that there is need for the hospital, which even attends to patients from Democratic Republic of Congo to have a standardized isolation centre.

Health Minister Elioda Tumwesigye says the ministry has noted the concern, only that they do not have the money currently to build an isolation facility at Bwera Hospital.

Dr. Elioda also said the construction of a second hospital in Kasese will improve services in the area.

Kasese district is prone to diseases like cholera, measles, Ebola and Marburg. This is because it borders Democratic Republic of Congo, but also experiences heavy rainfall that leads to flooding.
