Police says Sheikh Bahiga was on Sunday night trailed by his assailants from Kampala to the Bwebaja Mosque from where he was shot. He had gone for prayer at 8pm.
Unknown assailants have shot dead another Muslim cleric Sheikh Mustapha Bahiga only four days after Shia Muslim cleric Sheikh Dr Abdul Qadir Muwanga was gunned down at his home in Mayuge District.
According to Police, Sheikh Bahiga was on Sunday night trailed by two assailants to the Bwebaja Mosque, where he had gone for prayer at 8pm.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said the deceased was with his family in his vehicle. He left them in the car and went for prayers.
However, immediately after Sheikh Bahiga got back into the car, two armed assailants, disembarked from a motorcycle, approached the car and shot the deceased before escaping on the same motorcycle.
No other member of his family in the vehicle was shot at and nothing was taken from the deceased and hence police ruling out robbery.
