Annan Launches Humanitarian Appeal For 2006

The United Nations is seeking a total of 4.7 billion dollars to assist more than 31 million people in 26 nations including Uganda. The UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan officially launched the Humanitarian Appeal 2006 yesterday at UN Headquarters in New York. For the first time, the UN appeals this year include projects by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as UN agencies. Part of The money is being raised to help 5.4 million internally displaced persons across the world, 1.6 million of who are in Uganda.
