A 22-year-old student of Mbarara University of Science and Technology has been struck dead by lightening. Rebecca Apili was part of a group of 20 students who were attending a crusade at Bugonga landing site. She was struck dead after a lightening flash swept through a tree; she was standing under, during a heavy storm on Zinga Islands in Entebbe. The Central Region Police Commander, Benson Oyo-Nyeko, says Apili died on the spot, while two other students sustained minor injuries. But Apili's relatives insist that a postmortem should be carried out to confirm the cause of their daughter's death, before the body is taken for burial in Lira. In another development, a family of four has perished in an accident along the Masaka Kampala Highway. Nyeko says family members who included a four-months-old baby died on Thursday, when their car collided head on with a GASO Bus which was heading to Masaka. No one on the bus was injured.
