Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Budadiri West Member of parliament is the new opposition leader in parliament. Nandala was appointed this morning by Kiiza Besigye, the FDC leader ending days of speculations.
 
 
He replaces, Professor Ogenga Latigo, who lost his Agago county parliamentary seat. Wafulu Ogutu, the FDC spokesman has confirmed the appointment.


He also revealed the appointment of Winnie Kiiza, Kasese District Woman MP as opposition chief whip. He said that Besigye would appoint other leaders of the opposition shadow cabinet after consulting with the FDC National Executive Council.


Nandala Mafabi, who contested for the post of speaker and lost to Rebecca Kadaga, was first elected to parliament in 2001. He is credited for chairing a vibrant Public Accounts Committee during the 8th parliament.


Earlier on, it was highly believed that Besigye would nominate Cecilia Atim Ogwal, Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament for the post opposition leader.
