Communities at the shoreline of Lake Victoria are struggling to cope with rising water levels as homes are being submerged and gardens washed away. The affected residents on the shores include prominent city businessmen and pastors whose mansions are currently plunged in water.

Uganda Radio Network visited landing sites in Mulungu, Munyonyo and Port Bell in Luzira where all homes were submerged, in some areas affecting more than 50,000 beneficiaries.

At popular shorelines such as Ggaba, Munyonyo, Mulungu and Kawuku, the affected homes include those owned by businessmen Hamis Kiggundu, Christopher Sembuya, of Sembuule Steel Mills Ltd, Pastor  Robert Kayanja, and Pastor Gary Skinner.
