Police in Kampala Have Arrested a Tanzanian National for Alleged Theft. John Muruba and his accomplice were arrested on Saturday during a crackdown on suspected criminal gangs in the city. The suspects were picked from Pot Inn hotel, located in Nakivubo place. They were found in possession of a master key to Pot Inn Hotel, and a bunch of keys, which police suspect could have been used in other unscrupulous deals. The officer in charge of Kampala central police station, Vincent Irama, says the suspects are part of a group of thugs, thought to be behind the increasing thefts in city lodges. Irama says lodges have increasingly become targets for thieves because of the high number of businessmen who use them. Last week, a businessman at a lodge in Arua Park was robbed of 18 million shillings Irama has asked Lodge owners to increase surveillance and tighten security at the lodges.
